Welcome back to VP Land.

We’ve already got rumors of a less expensive Apple headset, a creative program at Runway to build AI tools, and an impressive demo of Simulon’s AR tech.

Let’s jump into it!

MAIN STAGE

More affordable Vision Pro(?) coming soon?

Apple's Vision Pro isn't even out yet, but we've got developments on two future models, as reported by Mark Gurman at Bloomberg.

More Affordable Vision: The new, more affordable Vision (Pro?) model is targeted to be priced between $1,500 and $2,500, a significant drop from the original's $3,500.

What gets cut:

  • Lower-resolution displays

  • iPhone processor in lieu of a Mac-grade chip

  • Likely removal of the EyeSight feature (the outward-facing screen that shows your eyes)

  • Fewer external cameras and sensors

A Second-Gen of the Vision Pro is also in development:

  • Retains high-end features.

  • Designed to be smaller, lighter, and potentially integrated with prescription lenses.

  • May integrate prescription lenses (first model uses lens inserts from Zeiss)

Release Timeline: First Vision Pro is expected "early next year," potentially by April.

SECOND UNIT

Learn to takeoff with AI at Runway

Source: Runway

Runway is launching the Runway Acceleration Program to transition software engineers into machine learning roles.

Recognizing the value of individuals from diverse backgrounds in AI endeavors, the initiative emphasizes the importance of technical proficiency, quick learning, and adaptability over formal AI education, especially given the fast-paced advancements in AI methodologies.

Spanning three months, this paid program offers participants the chance to actively engage in Runway's current projects. They'll team up with a varied group of researchers, engineers, and artists to develop novel AI systems and artistic tools, all while benefiting from the guidance of seasoned researchers in the organization.
