Atomos has unveiled the Ninja TX, marking the first time the company's popular Ninja series gains 12G-SDI connectivity, CFexpress Type B recording, and integrated cloud workflows in a compact 5-inch monitor-recorder. The $999 device ships in late August with all major codecs pre-activated.
Key Differentiators: Unlike previous Ninja models limited to HDMI, the TX includes both 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs.
All-New Design: Every component has been rebuilt from scratch, with no carryover parts from previous models.
Cloud-Ready: Built-in Wi-Fi 6E enables direct uploads to Frame.io, Dropbox, and ATOMOSphere storage.
Field Monitor Evolution: SDI connectivity finally arrives in Ninja's portable form factor
The Ninja TX represents Atomos' first compact monitor-recorder to include professional SDI connectivity, previously reserved for the larger Shogun series. The device maintains the 5-inch form factor while adding 12G-SDI input and output alongside HDMI 2.0 connections.
This is the most advanced and capable Ninja we've ever built… While it may look similar at first glance, Ninja TX is a completely new product, re-engineered from the ground up. There's nothing carried over from previous models.
The 1500-nit display delivers 50% more brightness than previous Ninja models, packed with monitoring tools including EL ZONE false color, focus peaking, waveform, RGB parade, and vectorscope for critical shot assessment.
Recording Revolution: CFexpress Type B and USB-C expand storage options
The TX introduces CFexpress Type B support to the Ninja line, enabling high-speed RAW capture up to 8K at 30fps, 4K at 60fps, and HD at 120fps. Dual USB-C ports allow simultaneous connection of external drives and accessories.
Recording capabilities include:
Apple ProRes and ProRes RAW
Avid DNx formats
H.265 and H.264 codecs
All codecs activated out of the box
Atomos has developed a locking system for HDMI and USB-C cables, with brackets and a USB-C locking cable included. The redesigned thermal system runs quieter and cooler than previous models.
Cloud Integration: Built-in connectivity streamlines modern workflows
The Linux-based AtomOS operating system enables over-the-air firmware updates and faster performance. Integrated Wi-Fi 6E and AirGlu timecode technology support cloud-based workflows with 20GB of free ATOMOSphere storage included.
Network features include:
Direct upload to Frame.io and Dropbox
NDI 6/HX3 streaming capabilities
Wireless timecode sync via AirGlu
Real-time collaboration tools
I'm incredibly proud of the Atomos engineering team for achieving what many would've thought impossible: fitting 12G-SDI, HDMI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and timecode sync via AirGlu into such a compact and lightweight design.
Last April, major product line expansions were unveiled by Atomos at NAB. Check out our coverage below.
Production Ready: Pricing positions TX between entry and professional tiers
At $999 USD, the Ninja TX sits above the standard Ninja V series while remaining below the $1,199 Shogun Ultra. The device ships in late August 2025, with power options including USB-C, Sony NP-F batteries, or AC adapters.
The combination of SDI connectivity, CFexpress recording, and cloud integration in a compact form factor addresses long-standing requests from professional users who needed broadcast-quality connections without the bulk of larger monitor-recorders.
