DJI's RS5 gimbal introduces three features aimed at making gimbal work faster for both beginners and experienced operators: Teflon-coated arms with individual adjustment knobs, a built-in tracking module that works without a smartphone, and a vertical bounce indicator that shows whether your walking motion is introducing shake.

Teflon arms and knobs. Every axis (pan, tilt, roll) gets its own fine-tuning adjustment knob. Combined with Teflon-coated sliding arms, balancing becomes faster and more intuitive. Experienced operators can balance in under 60 seconds, while newcomers get a more forgiving process that avoids the nudge-and-overshoot loop common with older gimbals.

Vertical bounce indicator. An on-screen display shows a real-time readout of vertical bounce while walking. Red means the shake will show up in footage, green means it will not. The indicator helps new operators learn proper gimbal walking technique and lets experienced operators test how fast they can move before introducing artifacts.

Built-in tracking module. The new tracking module locks onto people, cars, animals, and objects. Operators point the gimbal at a subject, press the trigger, and the RS5 maintains composition. A side screen shows detected subjects. Operators can apply composition offsets (placing the subject camera-left, for example) and adjust tracking sensitivity. The module works entirely on-device with no phone pairing required, unlike DJI's older RavenEye system.

Gesture control. A wave-to-track feature lets operators start tracking themselves hands-free, useful for solo shooters.

Powered rear handle. A rear grip with integrated controls ships in the combo kit, providing ergonomic low-angle operation without external wiring.

No DJI Focus compatibility. The RS5 does not currently integrate with DJI's follow focus system. Third-party solutions from companies like Tilta may work depending on their own integration efforts.

Pricing. The base gimbal costs $569. The combo kit at $719 includes the tracking module, powered rear handle grip, and carrying case.
