Welcome to another issue of VP Land - you’re daily update of all things new and interesting in the virtual production industry.

My alma mater, the FSU Film School, is hiring an instructor for virtual production.

Special thanks to our sponsor MASV for making our coverage possible. Easily transfer large files super fast.

From virtual stages to a virtual studio

Jamie Clemens & Joey Daoud

Vū is the is one of the largest networks of virtual production studios, with four volumetric LED sound stages in Tampa, Orlando, Nashville, and Las Vegas. They also consult on building stages, having worked on 18 so far.

But they’re not content with just being a network of virtual studios.

Here’s how Vū is diversifying in virtual production:

  • Creation of a Virtual Art Department (VAD) with Unreal designers and operators on staff

  • Virtual Studio by Vū, a series of tools for virtual production

    • Cuebric: uses generative AI to create 2.5D scenes that can be used as virtual backgrounds with parallax in a volume

    • Showrunner: Control stage lighting and scene selection

    • remote: cloud-connected control of stages

    • SceneForge: Previz for virtual production

Check out our full interview with Jamie Clemens from Vū, including his three C’s of why virtual production is better than practical locations: creativity, confidence, and control.
