“You wouldn’t steal a car.”
Remember those anti-piracy ads from the early 00s? Well, turns out the famous grunge font used might’ve actually been pirated.
Let’s dig into some new features from Runway and Foundry’s new virtual production solution.

Runway has launched an early-access References feature for Gen-4 that allows users to upload reference images to create consistent characters and locations across multiple generated outputs. This advancement addresses one of the biggest challenges in AI image generation: maintaining visual consistency across different scenes, angles, and characters.
We have released early access to Gen-4 References to all Gen:48 participants. References allow you to create consistent worlds with consistent characters and locations. This early preview is already available to all teams participating in Gen:48 for free. Good luck with your

The feature supports up to three reference images simultaneously, combining them in "unique and interesting ways"
The output is still images only. You can then use those images as first frames to create videos.
You can maintain character consistency while changing environments, camera angles, outfits, and more
The system works conversationally - simply upload your reference image and describe what you want to see
Images can be saved to favorites for continued reference and scene-building
Gen:48 participants are the first group with access to this functionality. Plans to roll it out in the next few weeks.

Foundry has released Nuke Stage, a new virtual production solution that bridges the gap between pre-production and post-production workflows. The platform uses USD and EXR formats as its core foundation, targeting 2.5D setups that combine high-resolution photographic imagery with virtual elements, and brings VFX professionals back into the virtual production process.
Unlike many VP solutions built around Unreal Engine, Nuke Stage leverages familiar VFX pipelines and compositing techniques
The system maintains continuity from pre-production through shooting to post, capturing all metadata and creative decisions in a database called "the vault"
It incorporates many of Nuke's compositing nodes directly into the VP environment, including color correction tools and VP-specific functions like tracking markers
The product is out of beta and Foundry is currently seeking a small number of initial productions to further refine workflows
Speculative audio-driven interfaces for world building. A demo of the future made with Gen-4.
