Wonder Project, the faith-and-family streaming platform behind House of David, has partnered with generative AI lab Luma AI to launch Innovative Dreams, a production company and R&D studio focused on applying generative models to real-time filmmaking workflows.

Key points for production teams:

  • Hybrid pipeline focus: Innovative Dreams combines performance capture, virtual production stages, visual effects, and generative AI into a single production stack.

  • AWS infrastructure: Amazon Web Services is backing the venture, providing cloud compute for training, inference, and real-time rendering at scale.

  • First title in the pipeline: A limited series titled Moses, shot on a virtual stage, will debut on the Wonder Project platform.

What the Venture Covers

Innovative Dreams is structured as both a production company making its own content and an R&D studio developing tools. The stated goal is scalable film pipelines that treat generative models as a native layer alongside performance capture and LED-stage production, rather than a post-production bolt-on.

The company plans to use its in-house projects as proving grounds for workflows it can later license or apply to third-party productions. For media professionals, this is closer in shape to an ILM or Wētā-style internal tools group than a standalone foundation model lab.

The AWS Angle

AWS backing gives the venture access to GPU capacity, storage, and orchestration tooling without the capital burden of building a render pipeline from scratch. It also places AWS in more direct competition for the generative-film-infrastructure tier that Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure have been courting through partnerships with Runway, Stability, and others.

For productions watching cloud spend, this signals that AI-integrated virtual production is becoming a platform-level commitment from hyperscalers, not a one-off deal.

Moses as a Test Case

Moses is the first production the joint venture will deliver. Shooting on a virtual stage with generative elements woven into the real-time pipeline gives the team a controlled environment to benchmark the hybrid approach against conventional virtual production.

Wonder Project has signaled that faith-based storytelling is a viable commercial lane, and the platform's audience gives Innovative Dreams a built-in distribution path for the series. That matters because AI-heavy productions still face uncertain reception, and shipping into a dedicated subscriber base reduces the variable of platform politics.
