BytePlus Introduces Seedance 2.5 4K With Lower-Cost 480p Draft Previews

BytePlus introduced Seedance 2.5 4K, a video model whose Draft mode lets creators test shots on what the company calls lower-cost 480p previews before generating the final version in 4K, according to its announcement on X. Teams can save the 4K generation for shots they have already settled on, though access is limited to selected enterprise customers and API availability is pending.

  • Draft mode handles iteration at 480p. Creators test storyboards and refine shots with 480p previews, then generate the final version in 4K.
  • BytePlus calls it the most capable Seedance 2.5 model. The company describes Seedance 2.5 4K as "the most capable model in the Seedance 2.5 generation."
  • The company cites finer detail and 10-bit color. BytePlus claims more nuanced facial expressions and movements, richer visual detail, and smoother color gradations from 10-bit color depth.
  • Access is limited to selected enterprise customers. The post gives no API date and says updates on API availability will follow.
  • "Otter is Nobody 2" is the demo. BytePlus presents the film as the model's screen debut.

Draft mode keeps storyboard tests at 480p until a shot is ready for 4K

BytePlus positions Draft mode for the stage where creators are testing storyboards and refining shots. Teams work through 480p previews, then generate the 4K version "once they’re happy with the result."

The post does not list pricing for either resolution or the size of the cost gap between them. It also doesn't say how closely a 4K generation matches the 480p preview it follows, which affects how much weight a team can put on a draft when choosing which shots to finish.

Generation cost has come up before in this model family. We previously covered Seedance 2.0 Mini, an earlier Seedance variant positioned around speed and cost.

BytePlus claims finer texture, more nuanced faces, and 10-bit color

In its Seedance 2.5 4K post, BytePlus says the model brings "more nuanced facial expressions and movements, alongside richer visual detail."

A follow-up post says the model "renders textures, contours and fine details more fully, producing a clearer overall image." BytePlus credits 10-bit colour depth for "richer colour gradations and smoother transitions."

These are company claims, and we have not tested the model. The announcement does not list clip lengths, frame rates, or generation times for 4K output.

Access is limited to selected enterprise customers, with API availability pending

BytePlus says Seedance 2.5 4K is available to selected enterprise customers and says to "stay tuned for updates on API availability." The post lists no public pricing, sign-up path, or API date.

BytePlus presents "Otter is Nobody 2" as the model's screen debut. As a demo the company selected, it doesn't show how the model handles a production's own prompts, references, or revision rounds.
