New Ideogram Vector Model Generates Editable SVGs From Prompts and Images

Ideogram has launched Ideogram Vector, which the company calls its first vector model, to generate editable SVG files from a text prompt or convert an existing image into a scalable vector. Because the output is vector artwork, logos, labels and print graphics can be resized, recolored and reworked shape by shape in a vector editor.

  • Two input modes. Text to vector builds an SVG from a prompt with optional image references, while image to vector converts an uploaded image without a prompt.
  • Individual shapes are editable. Ideogram's demo shows an accent shape in a wordmark being selected, resized and rotated independently of the rest of the design.
  • API pricing is per output. Text to vector runs $0.13 to $0.32 per SVG depending on quality and references, and image to vector costs $0.10 per image.
  • Live in the app and API. Ideogram says the model is available in Ideogram and through its API.

Prompts and existing images both become SVGs you can scale, recolor and reshape

In its launch post on X, Ideogram says the model generates "clean, editable SVGs with smooth gradients and sharp typography" from a prompt, or can turn "any image into a detailed, scalable vector."

The product page highlights three editing properties of the SVG output:

  • Scaling. Ideogram says artwork keeps "crisp edges at every scale," from a small label to a large poster.
  • Color changes. Colors in the SVG can be adjusted to match a brand, product or collection. The demo cycles one samurai illustration through red, blue, green, gold and purple palettes.
  • Shape control. Individual elements can be selected and refined in a vector editor.

The image-to-vector mode handles existing artwork. Ideogram's product page places source images beside their converted SVGs, including a pop art portrait and gradient script lettering, and visitors can hover over the sample artwork to highlight each shape's outline.

The conversion runs through Ideogram's image vectorization tool, which takes an existing image directly rather than a text description.

Ideogram's page shows lettering as part of the generated artwork but does not say whether exported text remains editable as live font text.

API pricing runs from $0.10 per converted image to $0.32 per generated SVG

Ideogram exposes both modes through separate API endpoints:

  • POST /v2/svg/generate/ideogram-vector-1 for text to vector, with optional image references
  • POST /v2/svg/vectorize/ideogram-vector-1 for image to vector, which takes an uploaded image and no prompt

Text-to-vector pricing per SVG:

Quality Prompt only With references
Low $0.13 $0.13
Medium $0.16 $0.16
High $0.20 $0.32

Image to vector is a flat $0.10 per image.

Ideogram Vector targets logo, print and sticker work, apart from Ideogram's image models

The product page positions the output for logos, print designs and illustrations, with example galleries covering typography, illustrations, logos and branding, print and merch, and labels and stickers.

The vector model is a separate release from Ideogram's P-Image model family, which generates raster images with $0.003 per-image pricing and native 2K output.

The Ideogram Vector page makes no mention of downloadable weights for the model.
