About Frame.io

Frame.io is a cloud-based review and collaboration platform designed for video and creative teams. It provides a centralized hub where editors, producers, clients, and stakeholders can upload cuts, leave time-stamped comments, compare versions, and approve assets from any browser or mobile device. By replacing long email chains, generic file-transfer links, and scattered feedback, Frame.io streamlines the review cycle and keeps creative projects moving efficiently.

At its core, Frame.io lets users upload video, audio, and image files, then share them through secure links or branded presentations. Reviewers can draw annotations directly on frames, leave threaded comments at precise timecodes, and mark items as approved or needing changes. Version control and side-by-side comparison ensure everyone is working from the latest cut while preserving a clear history of iterations. Robust security options—such as watermarking, passphrase-protected links, expiration controls, and granular permissions—help protect sensitive and pre-release content.

The platform integrates deeply with professional tools and workflows. Editors can send timelines to and from Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and other NLEs using native integrations or export extensions, so review notes flow back into the edit without manual re-entry. Camera to Cloud (C2C) workflows allow supported cameras, recorders, and on-set tools to upload proxy or original footage directly to Frame.io as it’s shot, enabling near-real-time remote review and editorial. Teams can also use the Frame.io Transfer app for accelerated, reliable file ingest and download of large media packages.

Frame.io is aimed at post houses, production companies, in-house brand teams, agencies, and individual editors who need fast, structured feedback across locations and time zones. It excels at review-and-approval, dailies and proxy sharing, and collaborative post-production for commercials, episodic TV, features, social content, and corporate video. Limitations for some users include capped storage and user counts on lower tiers, dependence on reliable internet bandwidth, and the fact that it is not itself an editing or finishing system—it complements, rather than replaces, your NLE and storage stack. For organizations that can plug it into their existing tools, Frame.io significantly reduces friction in getting from first cut to final delivery.
