Strada connects editors directly to media on local drives
Strada’s software allows video teams to access, share, edit, and review large files stored on local drives from different locations. The company describes its patented architecture as a distributed network based on peer-to-peer connectivity rather than centralized cloud infrastructure.
That architecture is the foundation of Strada Connect, which lets an editor work with media residing on another team member’s drive. Strada says this setup can eliminate upload waits and monthly cloud storage subscriptions, although those savings depend on each team’s storage and collaboration needs.
Fischbach said cloud storage has become more expensive even as his local storage has grown faster and larger. “The paradox of cloud storage is that it should have gotten cheaper and easier as the years go by, but it's bizarrely done the exact opposite,” he said.
Markiplier’s investment funds review, syncing, and mobile features
Strada plans to use the investment to accelerate a review and approval experience, remote drive syncing, and expanded mobile capabilities. The company also plans marketing initiatives with Fischbach, but the release does not provide a timetable for the features or disclose the size of the investment.
The roadmap extends Strada’s existing focus on making locally stored media accessible to remote collaborators. Its personal cloud application applies the same local-storage concept by making files on a user’s drives remotely accessible.
Co-founder Michael Cioni said Strada built the software in response to slow uploads, complicated remote workflows, and expensive cloud storage. The planned review, syncing, and mobile additions extend that same local-storage workflow.
Strada reports adoption across independent and enterprise teams
Strada says more than 12,000 users worldwide have downloaded its software since launch. The Los Angeles company started in 2023, and it says its customer base spans independent creators and media teams at Fortune 500 companies.
The software is free to download, though the release does not detail whether every feature or future capability will remain free. Strada’s earlier peer-to-peer editing release established the local-drive workflow, and Fischbach’s investment funds the company’s plan to expand collaboration around those files.
